A Siebel NC 702 of unknown identity have been rescued to a new home and a future which hopefully is bright. My guess is that the aircraft is the one listed as "previously with Aero Phoenix" so the photo has been linked with that individual. I hope to be able to give you more information about the rescue, identity and the plans for it. May be we can hope for a airworthy Siebel in some years? In the mean time do enjoy the very original 21st century paintscheme with unknown RLM colours... :-)

The new website of the Flying Heritage collection does show some interesting news when it comes to the preservation scene. The website claims that the collection holds many gems, some which has been acquired in a way that the public knows how they ended up in the collection (Me 262, Bf 109, Fw 190, Fi 156 etc). What was a nice surprise to see though is that the collection is to contain also the following examples: Fiesler Fi 103 (V1), Fiesler Fi 103R Reichenberg, V-2 rocket and the most unexpected of them all, a Me 163B. All these artefacts have up until now been unknown (at least to me...;-). The website indicates that the Fi 103 might come from the Nordhausen "factory" complex in Germany which I do think is quite realistic, since a lot of material has been recovered from there, and I've seen my self that there are substantial remains still in place. Anyway these four artefacts have not been included as survivors yet on this site since it hasn't been possible to verify either their background or that they really excist apart from being mention on the website. My (un)educated speculation is that these four artefacts have been reconstructed from recovered remains and other parts, which if the case is so, it is a reall accompishment. I do look forward to be able to add them to the survivors list one day when they can be truly confirmed! 

Lastly I've added a cockpit photo of the Fiat CR 42 at Hendon. The Italian Air Force Museum will hopefully receive their restored Fiat CR 42 in July this year.

As many of you probably have seen in different magazines and on other forums the Do 24ATT is now flying again. Kenneth Pedersen saw it when it arrived at Fredrichshafen on May 1st. Its such a great sight!

From Evžen Všetečka comes a new photo of the now completed NC 702 (Si 204A) W.Nr. 350 restoration in Prague. It does look really great! The Aero C-3B fuselage remains previously with Rváčov, Klub Vojenské a Letecké Historie Rváčov has been used as a source of parts in the restoration. Weather or not this fuselage part belongs to the Vojenske Muzeum, Kbely now or not is unknown at the time. Evžen also reports that the restoration of the CASA 2.111 W.Nr. 025 at Deutches Museum, Oberschleißheim is progressing fine. An updated photo have been added.

Pat and Linda Carry sent in photos of the A6M2 Zero of National Museum of Naval Aviation in Florida and of Kermit Weeks Bü 181 (Zlin Z-381 (C-106)) W.Nr. 461.

Bill Scheuerman added an improved photo of MS 500 W.Nr. 4621 operated by the Collings Foundation in Massachusetts.

John Thompson sent in some photos of the relics that is on show at Bournemouth Aviation Museum in UK. I've added a Ju 88 control column and a Bf 110 port aileron. There are some more parts on show but they are generally in a bad state after being recovered from crash sites.

Both Roger Soupart and Hank Wadman wrote in with the exciting news of recovery of a Bf 109G-6 W.Nr. 15678, brown 7 of 9 staffel of JG 54. It was recovered from the swamp Nieukoopse Plas. It is owned by a Dutch group called "DARE" and is kept in a location ca 30 km from Amsterdam. It is planned to rebuild it in some way for future museum purposes

Jean-Pierre Touzeau whom I met together with two other regular contributors to this website a few weeks ago in Paris. They took me for a guided tour at Musée de l'Air and Ailes Ancienne at le Bourget. Jean-Pierre told me then about a new previously unlisted survivor. Nord N 1002 No 173 re-registered F-AZKV is under restoration at Saint Rambert D'Albon. It has probably been in storage since 1964 when it was struck of charge then registered as F-BFRQ. Adjacent to that airframe is Nord N 173 also under restoration. Photos taken by Jean-Philippe Valden of both No 142 and 173 has been added. Jean-Pierre also added a photo of the BMW 801 in Musée de l'Air's fantastic engine collection. Thanks for a great day in Paris!

At the visit I took myself photos of a BMW 003, a DB 603 and a DB 603 still with it's original Me 410 cowlings. A Jumo 205, Jumo 211 and a V2 engine has also been added. There were numerous other axis engines of interest but the acces to the engines was very limited so no photo opportunities apeared. The BMW 003 is shown with moving parts, thus illustrating its function in great detail!

Oscar Azevedo wrote in with information that Fi 156C-2 W.Nr. 4471 is under restoration back to airworthiness after its crash in 1998. After completed restoration it will be based in Michigan. A photo of it has also been added.

Tom Burchill from USA wrote in with an update from Japan. The Kawanishi H8K1 "Emily" flying boat has been moved from the Maritime museum in Tokyo to a new location at Kanoya Naval Airstation in Kagoshima prefecture on the Island of Kyushu. A photo of it has been added while it was re-assembled. As can be seen from the photo the aircraft is unfortunately still placed outside (it's raining on the photo) so the long term survival of the aircraft is at risk. A cockpit photo of the A6M Zeke "22383" on show at the same musuem has been added.

Roger Soupart have visited the Bf 109G W.Nr. 15343 which is recreated in Holland and added a new photo of it, now with newly recreated wings attached. It's an amazing work being performed!

Eric Janssonne added a new beautifull inflight photo of CASA 1131 F-AZPB taken on March 28. Many thanks for all of these updates!

Martti Kujansuu in Finland added photos of the cockpit of the Polikarpov I-16Uti on show in Finland and the front cockpit of VL Tuisku on show in the same museum. I've also added a cockpit photo of the Hawker Hart preserved in Finnish colours in Sweden.

Thomas Siepert sent in photos of Two Jumo 213, one on show at Rechlin/Lärz Luftfahrtmuseum and the other at Luftfahrttechniches Museum Rechlin.

Through Dave McDonald comes a photo of the rear turret of a He 177 which is part of a private collection.

Peter Cohauz wrote inform us about a previously unlisted Bf 108 (Nord 1002) which is stored in Germany. It has the W.Nr. 220 and has now been added to the list of preserved axis aircraft!

From Birger Larsen comes an update of the Ju 88 restorations being undertaken in Hungary. A photo taken last week of the Berlin Ju 88G has been uploaded. It's looking really good! Work will now start on the norwegian Ju 88 too.

Jacques Strübi added some photos of great interest. They're showing three Nord 1002 (W.Nr. 75, 90 and 92) in storage at Montélier in France. One of them was previously not listed on this website.

Frédéric Besnard writes in with information about the sale of CASA 1131E W.Nr. 2149 F-AZBZ. The new owner will base it at the same location.

Eric Janssonne have sent in some more photos, this time of some CASA 1131E including D-EJFR, D-EIWW, D-EOMM, D-EDWK, D-EDWD and EC-DKX.

Birger Larsen wrote in to inform us that progress on the rebuild of the workstation for the radio operator in the Ju 88D-1 under restoration in Bodö is progressing nicely. The thouroughness in the work being undertaken is evident by the fact that the radios and instruments are dismantled and restored on the inside, defect parts being exchanged etc. See photo of the radio wall under the relics section. Thanks go out to all of you who contributed for this weeks update!

Also from France, Jacques Strübi sent in a photo of the Nord 1002 c/n 175, F-BCAS under restoration at Montélier. Hopefully the restoration will be completed in the next two years or so.

From Belgium, Ben Ullings added some great in flight photos of Fw 44J OO-JKT and D-ELFW.

Pat Carry from USA have visited EAA Aviation Museum at Oshkosh and took photos of the HA 1112 and Nakajima Ki 43 on show there.

Finally the ex-Danish Bf 108 W.Nr. 1561 has taken up D-EBFW and will be based near Frankfurt/Main for future operations.  Thank you for all of these great contributions!

It seems like Fw 44J OO-JKT ended up in UK as G-STIG.

Bücker Bü 131 (CASA 1.131E) W.Nr. 2062 has been sold to a new owner in Switzerland with new registration HB-UVU. I hope to be able to add a photo of it in the future.

From Alain Valdez comes a report on the preserved DFS 230 in France. He corrects some information on location and the ownership of the current aircraft and adds a photo of the second Musée de l'Air example in storage with Ailes Anciennes.

Henk Wadman writes in with some interesting news from Holland and Belgium. Fw 44J D-EJFW has changed registration to D-ELFW and has been repainted. It's first flight took place on 29 Dec 2003. It is reportedly for sale. Fw 44J OO-JKT is also for sale including the other aircaft from Landuyt collection, including the rare Valtion Viima OO-EBL and Bücker Bü 133 OO-EII. Bü 181 W.Nr. 331396 arrived in Rotterdam by ship. The owner states that the aircraft is a C-1 version that was rebuilt in Holland during the war. All paint has been stripped and the aircraft is under restoration. The fuselageframe of Klemm Kl 35 W.Nr. 1981 has been noted haning on a wall in a Hangar at Hoogeveen.

Also from Norway comes the news that it has been decided what will be done with Ju 52/3m g4e W.N.r 6791 which has been in storage in Narvik since the recovery of it from Hartigvann. The plans are to clean it and preserve it in the condition it is, and then put it on display in a newly buil building in the village Bjerkvik, close to Narvik.

Evžen Všetečka sent in photos of two previously unlisted major remains of Siebels preserved in Czech Republic. The first is of Aero C-103A OK-ACV and the second Aero C-3B MI-11. Both are kept by Rváčov, Klub Vojenské a Letecké Historie Rváčov (Club of Military and Air History Rváčov). The later is one of the rare bomber trainer versions. A new photo of the Aero C-3A preserved at Zruc Museum in Pilsen was also added. Great news indeed!

Cees Broere have been out recovering aircraft parts again! This time he and his team located a BMW 132 engine and a VDM propeller from a He 115 which sank in IJmeer east of Amsterdam. The parts will be restored and then put on display at Fort Veldhuis in Heemskerk Netherlands. I hope the team will go back and recover the rest of the He 115 too! :-)

From Ralf Gaida comes a photo taken by Mr Vornlocher of the restoration of the Bü 180. Great progress is made and soon we will have a really rare aircaft back in the air again. Also from Ralf comes photos of CASA 1131E D-EOUT.

January 2004 has turned out to be the best month so far for this website with almost 5000 visitors. Thats a new record! Please continue to add bits and pieces of information, corrections and photos as so many of you do. It is all of your contributions that make this site interesting for all of us with this special interest! People form more than 35 countries, from all continents of the world (except Antarctis!) have added information in some way over the years. Quite regularly I receive praise and appreciation from vistiors for the website, which also should reach all of you who do your part in this team work! There's currently 1726 entries and 1387 photos on the site to be compared with the ca 1600 respectively 1250 a year ago. Hopefully 2004 will be as exciting as 2003! /Mike

Another interesting addition to the preserved axis aircraft scene is the re-apperance of license built Bü 181 FV25104, D-EBIM. This aircraft has surfaced with a collector in Poland. The photos indicate that it has been in storage for a long time. Apparently it is still possible to make "discoveries in the barn" so keep your eyes open! :-)

Evžen Všetečka have now explained the difference between a Tatra T.131 (Bü 131A-2) and a Aero C-104 (Bü 131D-2) which is the engine. The Tatra uses a Hirth HM 504A built on license by Tatra as the Tatra T-100 and the Aero uses an original Hirth HM 504A-2. Only 35 Tatra Bückers were built. The orignal HM 504 engine used by Tatra model for the License production is on view at Technicke Muzeum Tatra in Koprivnice, see the engine section for photo. Also at the museum can be seen a Junkers type propeller produced at Tatra factory and probably used on a Ju 88. See the Junkers relic section. Evžen also added a photo of the tail unit of a Zlin Z-381/C-106 (Bü 181) which can be seen in the relic section from the Múzeum Letectva , Košice in Slovakia. Many thanks for explanations and photos!
